Old Dominion University will offer a new undergraduate major in maritime and supply chain management in the fall of 2006.
The major will be the first of its kind in Virginia, and the second in the country, according to school officials. It will be offered as a bachelor of science in the business administration degree program.
Students will have to complete courses in business, accounting, economics, marketing, finance, information technology, management and general education classes. Specialized offerings include international shipping, supply chain and logistics, shipping management and port management, along with other supply chain and logistics course options.
The undergraduate program will complement a graduate level four-course track and certificate program in port and maritime management offered through the school’s International Maritime, Ports and Logistics Management Institute, which has been at ODU for 12 years.
