Transas Completes Upgrade at Navy Test Facility

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

June 6, 2007

Transas USA has completed the commissioning of an upgrade of the shore based monitoring system for the United States Navy at their test facility, located in South Florida. The original system was supplied by Transas in 2001, and has provided continuous radar coverage, target tracking and data gathering support over the last five years. The upgrade included the addition of fully integrated Automatic Identification System (AIS) target tracking. The modular and flexible design of the system also allowed Transas to supply and integrate an off-the-shelf camera unit which meets the Navy’s specific requirements for zoom and night vision capabilities. The ability to track vessels in multiple formats and seamlessly merge the data, then output the data in a usable format greatly enhances the capabilities of the South Florida Test Facility.
