Survival Craft Inspectorate Delivers Safety Project
Survival Craft Inspectorate (SCI), a global provider of emergency marine evacuation systems, has delivered a fastrack safety refit for a global cruise shipping company.
SCI replaced and serviced key safety systems on board the Holland America cruise ship Rotterdam while she was docked in Hamburg, Germany. SCI sent over a specialist team to carry out the £260,000 (US$400,000) project in just 10 days.
Tio Devaney, SCI Country Manager for Americas – who flew over to Hamburg from the Americas Office to oversee the contract – said, “This project highlighted the skills, expertise and capabilities of SCI. We set up a workshop on the quayside, with an SCI team of 10, to deliver bespoke solutions. Despite the harsh weather conditions and the tight timeline SCI was able to deliver a successful project with strong cooperation from Holland America Project Team, SCI Americas Office and SCI UK team.”
A total of 10 RocLoc hooks, including four of the recently Lloyd’s Register approved RocLoc 13-ton release and retrieval systems, were installed.
Survival Craft Inspectorate currently has 150 staff at 10 locations worldwide: Findon, near Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth in the UK, Florida and Houston in the United States; Canada, Norway, Singapore, Malaysia and Western Australia. It opened a new operation in the Middle East in 2012.
Central to the company’s strategic growth plan is its Safelaunch lifeboat release system and patent protected RocLoc hook technology, which together provide a robust and technologically-advanced solution in the context of the 2014 legislation related to lifeboat release and retrieval systems.
Survival Craft Inspectorate has more than 20 years' experience in the manufacture, inspection, testing and servicing of lifeboats, fast rescue craft, release mechanisms, winches and davits to international standards for the global merchant shipping, cruise and oil and gas sectors.
SCI will be highlighting its products and service offerings at Booth 2328 at Cruise Shipping Miami (March 11-14, 2013)
