BC Ferries’ Queen of Surrey suffered an engine-room fire this morning as the vessel was enroute to Langdale.
The vessel will be towed to Langdale as soon as possible where passengers will disembark and the vessel will be inspected for damages. 318 passengers are onboard at the time of the incident, but no injuries were reported.
Transport Canada and the Transportation Safety Board have been notified of the incident.
This is the second incident involving a fire on the Queen of Surrey within the last month. A minor fire occurred over the Easter long weekend.
BC Ferries President & CEO David Hahn has directed a full investigation into today’s incident.
