EPA Issues Homeland Security Strategic Plan

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its HomelandSecurity Strategic Plan. The plan provides, among other things, that the EPA will be an active participant in national security and homeland security efforts pertaining to transportation. In this regard, the EPA will work to enhance emergency preparedness for transportation incidents involving radiation and work with the Customs Service to prevent importation of unwanted radioactive materials and to better control imports and exports of toxic and hazardous materials and wastes.
