London International Shipping Week 2015 (LISW15) is pleased to announce the line up, so far, of high level government and industry speakers for the official LISW15 Conference being held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane, on Thursday 10th September.

9.30am Session One:
The conference will begin with Jeremy Penn, Chairman of the LISW15 Steering Group and Chief Executive of The Baltic Exchange, formally welcoming everyone to the event before handing over to The Rt Honourable The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Alan Yarrow who will then address the Conference alongside a Senior UK Government Minister.
10.30am Session Two:
This session will focus on World Trade and the Shipping Markets and will consider how global prosperity is built on the combined platform of shipping and trade but also look at how the centres of gravity are shifting inexorably. While market volatility poses complex questions for the industry, what will the next 10 years hold? Dr Andrew Sentance, CBE, Senior Economic Adviser, PwC, Chair of TheCityUK’s Independent Economists Group (IEG); Sabrina Chao, Chairman, Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited, Deputy Chairman, Hong Kong Shipowners Association and Yari Kauppila PhD, Senior Economist, International Transport Forum (ITF), Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will be the key speakers in this session.
1.30pm Session Three:
Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport, Republic of Singapore; Koji Sekimizu, Secretary-General, International Maritime Organization (IMO); Paul “Chip” Jaenichen, Administrator, United States Maritime Administration (MARAD); as well as a Senior UK Government Minister will start the afternoon session off by discussing the role of governments in the industry and what level of involvement and support they should be offering. Entitled ‘National, Supranational and Global Governance’, this session will examine how tensions between national, regional and global priorities can be resolved.
3.30pm Session Four:
The final session, entitled ‘Innovation, Investment and Environment’, will discuss whether technology and innovation over the next 10 years will potentially help to ensure that environmental and economic sustainability is assured. Dr Grahaeme Henderson, Vice President Shipping & Maritime, Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited; Professor Ajit Shenoi, Director, Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute, University of Southampton; Tom Boardley, Marine Director, Lloyd’s Register and President of the UK Chamber of Shipping will be the key speakers in this session.
London International Shipping Week 2015 will take place from September 7 to 11 in and around the City of London. Leaders from every sector of the global shipping industry will descend on London during the week to take part in over 100 influential meetings, seminars and functions, culminating in a high level shipping industry conference and spectacular gala dinner.
