Following the successful annual drydocking and refit of the Wightlink fleet of passenger/car ferries since January 2001, A&P Southampton and Wightlink have announced the signing of a revised annual drydocking and maintenance agreement for a further three years. This new agreement has been extended to include A&P Shipcare (Portsmouth) for all in service repair needs. A&P Southampton Managing Director, David Parry, commented “Wightlink runs one of the largest passenger fleets in the UK and operates to the highest reliability standards. We are delighted that Wightlink has agreed to extend our agreement. In working closely with Wightlink’s technical team, we have placed a strong emphasis on pre-planning for the refits. This approach has seen returns for both teams with improved control over costs and has ensured that each vessel returns to service on time and to budget”. Wightlink’s Marine Director Captain Bill Frampton commented “We are very pleased to be working with A&P Southampton, who have all the professional skills to carry our refit programme for our vessels in this area, including day to day repairs and maintenance through its Shipcare services”.
