Dredging at Jurong Port, Singapore

Dredging work will be carried out at Keppel Shipyard Benoi Road, off West Jurong Channel, from 28 July to 30 September.

As per the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.98 of 2014, the works will be conducted 24 hours daily - including Sundays & Public Holidays - within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

A) 1° 17.880'N / 103° 40.914'E

B) 1° 17.845'N / 103° 40.929'E

C) 1° 17.796'N / 103° 40.823'E

D) 1° 17.831'N / 103° 40.807'E

Dredging works will be carried out by the grab dredgers. The grab dredgers will be held by 4-point anchoring system and each anchor position will be marked by a yellow buoy, Fl Y 3s.

The dredgers, with hopper barges in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50-metre radius centred at the dredgers. Dredged materials will be transported to the designated dumping ground by the hopper barges.

During the operation, the dredgers will be attended by tug boat. The tug boats will be used to shift the dredger.

A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other craft of the project.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

(a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;

(b) Maintain a proper lookout;

(c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;

(d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);

and

(e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.
