At the beginning of November 2002, Transas Marine (UK) installed the first Transas ARPA simulator system in Turkey, at the School of Maritime Business and Management (SMBM) in IZMIR. The system has greatly enhanced the capabilities of the College for ARPA simulator training.
The new ARPA/radar simulator at the SMBM comprises an Instructor station with extensive model and exercise area libraries, and three Trainee stations, each with an ARPA display and combined Conning, ECDIS and Visual stations.
The Transas ARPA/radar PC-based simulator is an STCW’95 compliant tool for practicing radar-based navigation in all weather and visibility conditions, in open sea, pilotage waterways and areas with high traffic density. The ARPA simulator has the capability for up to 24 interactive trainees to exercise simultaneously. Like all Transas maritime simulation systems it is easily upgradeable to a full-mission bridge simulator, with dedicated visual projections and real ship controls.
