Houston Port Gets Most Security Money

The Port of Houston got the biggest chunk of nearly $142 million in the fifth round of port security grants awarded to 36 U.S. ports by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to a Associated Press article The Houston port was awarded $35.3 million by the Port Security Grant Program, which funds efforts to protect ports from small craft and underwater attacks and enhance explosive detection capabilities. The Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles received the second- and third-largest awards of $12.7 million and $11.4 million, respectively
