Battery hybrid provides clean, quiet, fuelâefficient research platform on Long Island Sound. Corvus Energy, Northern Lights and BAE systems now power Spirit of the Sound, a floating marine education classroom and research vessel. Energy Storage System Ordered for LNG Battery Hybrid Ferry

Corvus Energy, Siemens AS and Fjord1 have announced the award of the contract for the Fannefjord LNG hybrid ferry. The refit Fannefjord will use a 1,050V, 410kWh Energy Storage System (ESS) consisting of 63 Corvus Energy AT6500 advanced lithium polymer batteries. The ESS will be integrated with the existing Siemens drive systems and be powered by two LNG generators. The 123m Fannefjord, sister ship to the vessel Moldefjord (who won the 2010 Green Ship of the Year)âŚ
Hybrid Ferry Completes Three-month Trial

Corvus Energy announced the completion of the three-month trial of the hybrid ferry MF Finnøy. The refit vessel used a 960V, 260kWh Energy Storage System (ESS) consisting of 40 Corvus Energy AT6500 advanced lithium polymer batteries. The ESS was integrated with the existing drive systems provided by Siemens AS, and powered by two 650kW diesel generators. MF Finnøy, built in 1999, has a capacity of 350 passengers and 110 cars.

The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk christened a larger, âgreenerâ new research vessel on Friday, September 26 in preparation for launching a new era in examining, monitoring and teaching about Long Island Sound. Corvus Lithium Energy Storage DNV-GL Type Approved

Baltic Ace Totem-VDR Capsule Recovered

The capsule of the Car Carrier Baltic Ace was recovered on Dec. 22nd, more than two weeks after the ship sank in the North Sea west of Rotterdam. Rough weather and debris prevented the divers from recovering the capsule earlier. Opening the capsule was performed under the supervision of Totem Plus, the VDR maker. The data in the capsule was found intact by Totem Plus technician, and was given to authorities for proper analysis of the tragic incident.
