Corvus Lithium Energy Storage DNV-GL Type Approved

Corvus Energyâs lithium energy storage system is the worldâs first to be type- approved by DNV GL. The type approval makes increased fuel efficiency and greatly reduced emissions available for heavy industries such as offshore oil and gas and commercial shipping, Corvus said. According to the manufacturer, rigorous testing over several years proves that heavy offshore machinery will maintain power and safety during operations using Corvus Energyâs AT6500 module.

Baltic Ace Totem-VDR Capsule Recovered

The capsule of the Car Carrier Baltic Ace was recovered on Dec. 22nd, more than two weeks after the ship sank in the North Sea west of Rotterdam. Rough weather and debris prevented the divers from recovering the capsule earlier. Opening the capsule was performed under the supervision of Totem Plus, the VDR maker. The data in the capsule was found intact by Totem Plus technician, and was given to authorities for proper analysis of the tragic incident.

The 148-metre (485-foot) car carrier Baltic Ace, sailing under the Bahamas flag, carrying cars from Zeebrugge in Belgium to Kotka in Finland, took water after the collision and the 24 crew took to the liferafts, reports BBC News. Several helicopters and two navy patrol ships continue searching for the missing sailors.
