DNV GL JDP for Marine Batteries

Classification society DNV GL has announced the launch of a Joint Development Project (JDP), designed to advance the understanding of the use of lithium-ion batteries in the shipping industry. Corvus Energy Names Bjørkeli CEO

Corvus Energy has appointed Geir Bjørkeli as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Bjørkeli was previously Director of Norway for the Dutch company Huisman, and established the company’s Norwegian presence for offshore construction equipment solutions. Bjørkeli will remain based in Bergen, Norway. Prior to joining Huisman, Bjørkeli was a design engineer with the ship designer and shipbuilder Ulstein.

The 'Seaspan Swift' is the first LNG-battery hybrid cargo ferry in North America. The vessel features two dual-fuel engines and a Corvus lithium ion energy storage system (ESS), which operates as spinning reserve and provides propulsion power for low-speed maneuvers. Scandlines’ New Hybrid Ferry Named MV Copenhagen

The second of Scandlines’ two new hybrid ferries for the Rostock-Gedser route was named M/V Copenhagen during a ceremony at the Danish shipyard FAYARD A/S on October 28, 2016.
