Mare Forum Shipping Summit 2014 Will be Held in Dubai
Drydocks World & Maritime World, a provider of services to the international marine and maritime industry, announced that the Mare Forum Shipping Summit will be held in 2014 in Dubai, UAE. The event which will be attended by leaders of both the regional and international industry will be the first time that this internationally recognized forum will be held in Dubai and will focus world-wide attention to the growing importance and emerging stature of Dubai within industry circles.
Atlantic Towing and Jaya Seal Second Offshore Deal
Offshore energy services provider Jaya Holdings Ltd. reached an agreement to sell a second new state-of-the-art anchor handling tug supply vessel Jaya Sovereign to Canadian buyers, Atlantic Towing Ltd. The vessel’s delivery is expected by the end of 2013. The Jaya Sovereign is a sister ship of the Jaya Supreme which was delivered to Atlantic Towing in November of last year. Both vessels are among the most sophisticated anchor handlers ever built at a Singapore shipyard.

Increased IPS Range for Marine Commercial
Volvo Penta is now launching IPS900 with Rating 3 for commercial boats, which they say means a larger number of boats for commercial use can take advantage of the well-known IPS benefits: improved fuel economy, better maneuverability and lower overall operating costs. With the launch of Volvo Penta IPS900, the Inboard Performance System (IPS) is now available for boats in the Coast Guard and Patrol, Supply Vessels and Offshore Energy and Passenger Transport segments.
Wärtsilä to Design Heavy Construction Vessel for Subsea 7
Wärtsilä, a marine industry solutions and services provider, has been contracted to provide the design for a large heavy construction vessel (HCV). The ship is to be built for Subsea 7 S.A., the seabed-to-surface engineering, construction, and services contractor to the offshore energy industry worldwide, by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea. HHI is one of the world's largest ship building companies.

Hydro Group Unveils New Connector
Aberdeen-based Hydro Group Plc. a global design and manufacturer of underwater cables and connectors for subsea, underwater, topside and onshore applications, invested £300,000 into research and development in 2012 and has developed the 36kV Dry Mate Hydro Bond Renewable Connector (HRC). The reduced installation time means the 36kV Dry Mate HRC is a lower risk, more cost effective and safer option, due to the reduction in offshore-man hours, the manufacturer claims.

104,800 Attendees at OTC 2013
Experts from the offshore energy industry around the world came together May 6-9 for the 2013 Offshore Technology Conference at Reliant Park in Houston. Attendance at the conference reached a 30-year high of 104,800, the second highest in show history and up 17% from last year. Attendance surpassed the 2012 total of 89,400 and the sold-out exhibition was the largest in show history at 652,185 ft², up from 641,350 ft² in 2012.
