LOC Expands to Australia's East Coast
London Offshore Consultants (LOC), a global marine and engineering consultant for the shipping and offshore energy sectors, announces plans to increase its presence in Australia. Identifying a strategic growth plan which allows the group to maintain quality and improve client response time, satellite operations, firstly in Sydney, and then the surrounding region, will be opened to support the existing operation in Perth.
Jaya Reports 2013 Earnings
Offshore energy services provider, Jaya Holdings Limited has reported consolidated revenue of $29.6 million and net profit of $7.6 million for the financial quarter ended September 30, 2013.
Braemar Adjusting Makes Several New Appointments
Braemar Adjusting continues its global expansion with the addition of one director in London, two directors in Houston and an energy adjuster in Singapore. Ian McInroy re-joins Braemar’s London office as a Director in October 2013 from a leading international insurance broking and consultancy group, where his primary responsibilities were to design risk transfer programs for offshore energy construction projects and advise clients on the terms and conditions of their energy contracts.

Ferguson Norge Boosts Product Range
Ferguson Norge AS, part of the Ferguson Group, specialists in the rental of offshore containers, refrigeration/chiller modules, engineering modules and accommodation solutions to the offshore energy sector, has increased its fleet in Norway ahead of this year’s Offshore Technology Days (OTD) exhibition. Ferguson Norge has invested in a number of new offshore containers and workspace units, which will be available from its bases in Stavanger, Bergen and Kristiansund.

Pipeline Damage Assessment Tool Launched
Tecnitas, the marine advisory arm of leading international classification and verification group Bureau Veritas (BV), has launched a new technology simulation system for pipeline damage assessment, in collaboration with Total. This system, EMPREINTE, helps pipeline operators to determine safe operating pressures after a pipeline is damaged. It is a software suite which provides a decision making tool which, according to BV, aims to save operators money and cut downtime for pipeline repairs.
OMSA Enters Leadership Transition
The Offshore Marine Service Association announced that it will begin a transition of leadership. Several months ago, President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Adams informed the OMSA Board of Directors that he would be stepping down by the end of the year to manage a startup business that he and his partners have developed in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. “Jim has done an outstanding job and he will be genuinely missed. He has expertly guided OMSA through some difficult waters.
Fendercare Wins Eastport U.K. Fendering Contract
Norfolk-based Fendercare Marine, a supplier of marine products and services, has secured a contract to supply Yokohama fenders to Eastport U.K. Norfolk port. The contract, won against international competition, is for the supply of 17 Yokohama pneumatic fenders measuring 2 x 3.5 m to be used at the Great Yarmouth port. Fendercare Marine is currently celebrating 25 years of trading, having built their reputation as a supplier of quality marine products – in particular Yokohama fenders.

BAE Systems to Build Subsea Support Vessel
Oceaneering International, Inc., a global oilfield provider of engineered services and products, has selected BAE Systems to build a subsea support vessel for offshore drilling. The vessel will be used to augment Oceaneering’s ability to provide subsea intervention services in the ultra-deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. BAE Systems continues to support the offshore energy market as it grows its U.S. commercial shipbuilding operations.
New Report Recommends Offshore Energy 'Arctic Standards'
A new PEW Charitable Trust report entitled: 'Arctic Standards: Recommendations on Oil Spill Prevention, Response, and Safety, has just been released. Arctic OCS standards would provide consistent requirements on how to design, build, install, and operate equipment to safely explore and develop oil and gas resources and respond to accidents in the region using best Arctic science, technology, and practices.
Exercise IRON MOON 2013 Concludes in Australia
Australian Defense Force (ADF) personnel have completed Exercise IRON MOON 2013, a two week Maritime Counter Terrorism training exercise in the waters off Exmouth and Dampier in North West Australia. The annual exercise involved several hundred personnel from across Defense and Australian federal and state civilian agencies. The exercise is designed to enhance and validate the ADF Maritime Counter Terrorism response capability in the most realistic environment possible.
Vestdavit Appoints U.K. Director of Operations
Norway-based boat handling system and specialized davit supplier Vestdavit has appointed Andy James as Director of Operations for the U.K. Andy James served 25 years in the Royal Navy as an engineer, including working ashore as a workshop manager in a shipyard and as a project manager for new equipment. At the VT Group (later BAE) he helped implement and provide a fully commercial model of support to a fleet of six RN warships.
New Jaya Multi-Purpose Platform Supply Vessel Delivered
Leading offshore energy services provider, Jaya Holdings Limited confirmed the on-time delivery of its second new Multi-Purpose Platform Supply Vessel (MPSV), Jaya Vigilant. She sailed from Jaya’s shipyard in Batam yesterday and was immediately on hire by its charterer for a term program in East Africa. The vessel will load a Remotely Operated Vessel (ROV) spread and mobilize across the Indian Ocean to load further subsea equipment for the client in Durban in October.

BAE Yards Busy with PSV Newbuilds, Ship Repairs
BAE Systems continues to support the offshore energy market as it expands new construction efforts and maintenance, repair, overhaul and conversion operations at its shipyards in Mobile, Ala., and Jacksonville, Fla. Earlier this year, BAE Systems began construction on the first of two platform supply vessels for GulfMark Americas, Inc. The 300-Class DP2 vessels are designed by MMC Ship Design and Marine Consulting, Ltd.
