Samsung Heavy Industries Taps GTT for Tank Design of New FLNG Unit
French engineering firm GTT said Tuesday it had received an order from its South Korea-based shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries for the tank design of a new Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) unit. According to GTT, Samsung is building the FLNG for "an Asian company.""With a total storage capacity of 200,000 m3, this FLNG will be the first fitted with the membrane containment system Mark III Flex developed by GTT.

French engineering company GTT has received two orders from the Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries for the tank design of seven new liquefied natural gas carriers.GTT said that Samsung Heavy Industries was building the LNG carriers for "a European shipowner and an American shipowner."GTT will design the tanks of the seven vessels, which will each offer a capacity of 174,000 m3. The tanks will be fitted with the MarkIII Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT.
CMI Inks Licensing Deal with GTT for Membrane Technologies
French engineering firm GTT said it has signed a technical assistance and license agreement with China Merchants Heavy Industries-Jiangsu (CMHI-Jiangsu), a subsidiary of shipbuilding group China Merchants Industry Holdings (CMI), enabling the yard to construct vessels using GTT membrane technologies.GTT and China Merchant Industry Holdings have been cooperating for a decade, with a first Technical Service Agreement signed in 2013 for the maintenance and repair of LNGCs.

GTT Designs Fuel Tanks for Six New LNG-fueled Containerships
French engineering firm GTT said it has been chosen in April 2022 by Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries to design the cryogenic fuel tanks of six liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled containerships.The vessels for the unnamed owner are scheduled to be delivered between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the second quarter of 2025.These six vessels will have a capacity of 7,900 containers each and will be equipped with LNG tanks, holding up to 6,000 m3 of LNG used as fuel.
EDF Charters Fourth LNG Carrier from NYK
NYK-affiliated company France LNG Shipping has secured a long-term charter contract for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier with EDF LNG Shipping SAS. The newly built LNG carrier is scheduled for delivery in 2025 from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. Ltd.
