USCG Crew Awarded for Detroit River Rescue

Coast Guard Rescues Man from Freight Ship
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) rescued a 54-year-old man, who was suffering from medical issues while aboard a 655-foot freight ship approximately 150 miles southwest of Tampa, Wednesday. Norway Buys ShipArrestor System
The Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverket) has signed a contract with Miko Marine AS to become the first national agency to purchase the ShipArrestor system. The two packages ordered are due for delivery this summer and feature sea anchors that can be deployed on ships by helicopter. The systems will help protect Norwayâs coastline against the pollution and other hazards caused when ships lose engine power and drift before running aground.
Sharpeye Keeps Watch on Chesapeake Bay
Kelvin Hughes, a global supplier of surveillance and navigation systems, announced that it has recently supplied two SharpEye Solid State X Band surveillance radars to the Maryland Natural Resources Police (MPRP), to provide additional coverage around protected oyster beds. Navy Rescue Fishing Vessel Crew, Prevent Guam Wreck Pollution
Sailors from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25 conducted a search and rescue operation and rescued 10 fishermen from a sinking commercial fishing vessel that ran aground in Apra Harbor near Spanish Steps, Guam. KBV Orders Another Vessel from Norsafe
On July 2, 2013, Norsafe and the Swedish Coastguard (KBV) signed a frame contract concerning the delivery of their next generation workboats. The total number of boats is undecided but in October Norsafe received the seventh boat order for delivery in 2014 - a contract to deliver the next generation Magnum 750 rescue boats. In 1997, KBV purchased new workboats from Norsafe, and this resulted in the design of Norsafeâs Magnum 750.
