Bay Shipbuilding Awarded USCG Repair Contracts
Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) subsidiary, Bay Shipbuilding Company (BSC) of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, has been awarded a USCG contract for drydock repairs to the United States Coast Guard Cutter Hollyhock (WLB-21) and a second USCG repair and sustainment contract for the icebreaker Mackinaw (WLBB-30). Hollyhock is a Juniper Class Seagoing Buoy Tender measuring 225-feet long. The Mackinaw is a 240-foot heavy icebreaker for operations on the Great Lakes.

USCG Cutter Drydocked in Curtis Bay
The Wilmington, N.C.-based Cutter Diligence recently entered the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Yard in Curtis Bay, Md. for drydock availability. The 50-year-old medium endurance cutter will spend the next three months drydocked for approximately $2 million worth of “critical maintenance work,” the USCG said. Shortly after arriving in Curtis Bay, Diligence, a 210-foot medium endurance cutter permanently homeported in Wilmington, N.C.

KNC to Provide Security Tech for Algerian VTMIS
Kongsberg Norcontrol IT (KNC) will provide the core maritime surveillance, voice communications, port management and port community technologies for the new Algerian national Vessel Traffic Management and Information System (VTMIS). KNC is part of a consortium with Ericsson, Indjaz and Korea Trading and Industries Co. Ltd that is tasked with delivering the new VTMIS, with work starting this Summer.
