Boskalis Profits Fall, Fleet Cut on Weak Oil
Marine construction company Boskalis expects a drop in net profit this year as depressed commodity prices hit demand for oil-related infrastructure, it said on Wednesday. Its shares fell 10 percent to 32.42 euros in early trading. "Volumes and prices are under pressure, which is also translating into our order book," Chief Executive Peter Berdowski said in a statement. Boskalis's order book fell to 2.49 billion euros ($2.7 billion) at the end of 2015 from 3.29 billion in December 2014.

SST Invests In Fleet Renewal in Canada
Saam Smit Towage Canada takes delivery of new built tug SST Capilano, to be added to the fleet of 21 tugs operated in British Columbia. The addition of this tug will further strengthen the fleet that Saam Smit Towage operates in British Columbia. Saam Smit Towage (SST), a joint venture between SAAM and Royal Boskalis and operating in various locations in the Americas, took delivery of a new tugboat.

GE Marine Powered Tugs Delivered to SAAM
SAAM has taken delivery of its first two tugs to be powered by GE Marine. These new 80-ton RAstar 3200 terminal support tugs include two 8L250 GE Marine diesel engines. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd. and built at Guangdong Bonny Fair Heavy Industry Limited in China, the tugs will operate out of Uruguay. “Arriero,” reached its new home port of Montevideo on November 16 and the second tug, “Maneador,” is currently en route.
Saam Smit Towage Bolsters Americas Fleet
Saam Smit Towage, a joint venture between SAAM S.A. and Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. providing towage services in Mexico, Canada, Panama and Brazil, announced it has invested in fleet renewal in Canada and Panama. The company’s Canadian arm has taken delivery of newbuild tug SST Capilano, to be added to the fleet of 21 tugs operated in British Columbia. For Panama, meanwhile, a newbuild tug to be named SST Rambala has been ordered from Damen Shipyards and will be delivered in March, 2016.

Boskalis, KOTUG Joint Venture Formalized
Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. and KOTUG International B.V. have reached a formal agreement to merge their European harbor towage operations following on a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the parties in late 2014. The combined operations will be transferred to a 50/50 joint venture bringing together the European harbor towage activities of KOTUG and Boskalis subsidiary SMIT, operating under the new name KOTUG SMIT Towage.

Ampelmann Wins FPSO Walk to Work Contract in Brazil
Ampelmann, a developer of motion compensated access solutions, has been awarded its first contract in Brazil. Under the contract, Ampelmann will provide its E-Type system to Boskalis in support of an extended FPSO maintenance campaign. The Ampelmann system enables fully motion compensated ship to ship personnel transfers. Ampelmann’s track record on FPSO walk to work campaigns includes recent projects delivered in the North-Sea, Australia, Gulf of Mexico and Africa.

The construction of Maasvlakte 2 has been recognized by the award of the prof. dr. ir. J.F. Agema prize, which is awarded every five years to an innovative marine engineering work that was designed or constructed by a Dutch party.
