BP Resumes Efforts to Drill Relief Well
According to a July 25 report from Bloomberg, BP Plc’s vessels are back at the well site in the Gulf of Mexico, working to permanently plug the source of the oil spill after a storm threat passed. The rig drilling a so-called relief well, which will be used to permanently plug the Macondo well with mud and cement injected from the bottom, is planned to be reconnected around midnight, July 25. During the week of Aug. 1, BP will perform a “static kill” by pumping mud from the top to help stop the gusher permanently.
