Crowley Restructures Senior Management

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced a restructuring involving three members of its senior leadership team. John Douglass and Rob Grune will move to new positions, with Douglass taking over as senior vice president and general manager of Crowley's Puerto Rico/Caribbean liner services, and Grune taking over as senior vice president and general manager of Crowley's petroleum transportation group. Both executives will remain domiciled in Jacksonville and continue to report to Tom Crowley, chairman, president and CEO.

Additionally, Rockwell Smith, Crowley's senior vice president and general manager based in Seattle, will assume responsibility for all of Crowley's marine contract services both domestically and internationally.  He will continue to oversee the company's Alaska operations, as well as West Coast harbor services.

Douglass has been with Crowley for more than 20 years, most recently serving as senior vice president and general manager of the company's coastwise petroleum transportation services and contract tug and barge services in the U.S. Gulf and Atlantic. In his new position, he will direct Crowley's Puerto Rico and Caribbean liner services, which include regularly scheduled vessel service between the U.S. and nearly 20 Caribbean islands. Reporting to Douglass will be Deena LeBlanc, manager, freight services; Jorge Estevez, vice president, sales and marketing; Maureen Cunningham, vice president, operations; Roberto Lugo, vice president, Puerto Rico; and Rudy Leming, vice president, Caribbean Islands.

Grune, who joined Crowley in 1995 and who has most recently managed the company's Puerto Rico and Caribbean liner business, will now be responsible for Crowley's petroleum transportation services. The company provides chemical parcel transportation and bulk petroleum transportation throughout the North American coasts, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and to a lesser degree internationally. Crowley's tank vessels include ships, articulated tug and barge units, and conventional tugs and towed barges. Reporting to Grune will be Dorine Tessier, vice president, sales and chartering; Capt. Vic Goldberg, vice president, marine operations, and Eric Evans, director, finance and planning.  

Smith, who joined Crowley almost 30 years ago, will now manage all of the company's contract towing and transportation - domestically and internationally. And, he will continue to manage petroleum distribution and fuel sales throughout Alaska, tanker assist and escort services in Valdez and Prince William Sound, Alaska, energy support services involving marine and all-terrain transportation on Alaska's North Slope and ship assist and escort services on the West Coast. Reporting to Smith are Bruce Harland, vice president, operations, Alaska; Craig Tornga, vice president, petroleum distribution, Alaska; Chris Peterson, vice president, West Coast services; Scott Hoggarth, general manager, ship assist and escort; and John Ara, vice president, contract services.
