Simrad Autopilot Recognized by NMEA
The AP25 was voted 'Best Autopilot (recreational)' in its first year on the market whilst the benchmark AP50 took the award for 'Best Autopilot (commercial)'. The AP50 was first entered in 2003 and has won both awards since. Additionally, the 'Best Compass, Electronic' award was won by the new Simrad RC36 rate compass.
The 2004 NMEA awards were presented at the NMEA's annual convention in Naples Florida, 20th -23rd October, and were voted on by members of the organisation, which is made up of marine electronics suppliers and dealers throughout the USA.
"We are once again proud that our autopilots have performed so well at the NMEA awards," comments Jan Berner, President, Simrad. "The awards recognise excellence in marine electronics and to have won so many over the years is confirmation that Simrad is, and always has been a leader in the field of autosteering."
