Raytheon Co., Naval and Maritime Integrated Systems, Portsmouth, R.I., is being awarded a $12,786,487 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the design, build, test and deployment of the Acoustic Observatory (AO) Array Wet Subsystem (WS). The array will be deployed off of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Ft Lauderdale, Fla., and will be used to determine the upper bounds to passive sonar performance in highly cluttered,
shallow water environments. Work will be performed in Portsmouth, R.I., and is to be completed by July 2004. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured under a Request for Proposals, with four offers received. The Office of Naval Research, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity.
