Canyon Offshore has purchased three new Triton XLS Work Class Remotely Operated Vehicles from Perry Slingsby Systems, Inc.
Triton XLS, a new deepwater, 100-horsepower vehicle is specifically designed for deep and ultra deepwater operations. Depth-rated to 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) and equipped to carry a payload of 200 kg. (440 lbs.), the Triton XLS series improves the controls, performance and features of the Triton XL with greater depth capabilities, and a significantly longer 390-meter (2,130-foot) tether cable deployed from the proven Triton Top Hat Tether Management System. The XLS’s 3,000 kg (6,600 lbs.) of lifting capability provides a platform for a wide variety of tooling modules, including trenching skids, flowline connector modules, and other intervention tooling skids.
Canyon Offshore will take delivery of the XLS 1 and 2 in April 2003 and XLS 3 in May 2003. The vehicles will be available worldwide to support Canyon Offshore’s activities in the Gulf of Mexico, Asia Pacific and the North Sea. Canyon Offshore operates one of the world’s largest fleet of Perry Slingsby work class ROV systems.
