The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) issued a joint interim rule revising the regulation governing protection of sensitive security information (SSI) in order to protect the confidentiality of maritime security measures and other activities related to port and maritime security. This regulation establishes certain requirements for handling and dissemination of SSI, including restrictions on disclosure and civil penalties for violations. The rule comes into effect on June 17. Comments on the rule should be submitted by July 19. 69 Fed. Reg. 28066 (HK Law).
