U.S. signs RMS Titanic Protection Agreement

The U.S. Department of State issued a Media Note saying that the United States has signed an international agreement that will lead to increased protection of the wreck site of the RMS Titanic. The agreement was negotiated by the four nations most closely associated with the Titanic – Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States, beginning in 1997. The UK signed the agreement in November 2003 and adopted implementing legislation. The agreement will now be forwarded to the Senate for ratification. (HK Law).
