Langh Ship and MacGREGOR Give Presentation

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

October 30, 2003

Boxship 2003 focused on operating, designing and securing containerships. Among the invited lecturers were Hans Langh, CEO of Oy Langh Ship Ab, and Kim Olin, naval architect from MacGREGOR (FIN) Oy, who gave a presentation on innovative transport solutions for steel products. Developed and patented by Langh Ship, these transport solutions for the steel industry are marketed and sold together with the company’s close and long-standing partner, MacGREGOR (FIN) Oy. “We really appreciate this opportunity to present Langh Ship Cargo Solutions to the delegates of this international conference, as well as the feedback that we have received” Hans Langh and Kim Olin say. In recent years, Oy Langh Ship Ab has been investing heavily in the development of special solutions for the steel industry, related to effective transportation of highly processed steel products. The best-known of them is the so-called cradle tweendeck pontoon that was granted the Finnish patent in 2001 and the European patent on 8 October 2003. I addition to the tweendeck pontoon, Mr Langh and his staff have developed and patented special containers for steel industry products. Sensitive products are loaded directly into special containers at the steelworks, thus avoiding unnecessary handling of the goods. Due to these containers and the new EPO-patented cargo securing mechanism, the goods can be handled faster and with less damages. Furthermore, the expensive and environmentally harmful road transports can be minimised by using intermodal units and use sea transports, which are more economical and environmentally safer.
