USS Antietam arrives on scene heralding the arrival of the 'George Washington' carrier strike force wth its immense capabilities, cruise ship operators Carnival Corp. pledge a million US$ and KVH grants free phone calls.

Capt. Tom Disy, commanding officer of the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54), speaks to local media about Antietam and the George Washington Carrier Strike Group's plans to provide humanitarian relief to the Republic of Philippines in response to Super Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. The George Washington Carrier Strike Group will be able to provide humanitarian assistance, supplies, and medical care in support of the ongoing efforts led by the government and military of the Republic of Philippines.
Carnival Corporation
Say that its 10 cruise brands and the Carnival Foundation will team up with the two-time defending NBA Champion Miami HEAT in making a pledge to donate at least $1 million to support relief efforts in communities affected by Typhoon Haiyan. (Miami HEAT owner Micky Arison is also the chairman of Carnival Corporation & plc).

will be no charge for calling to the Philippines on any KVH Tracphone min-VSAT from anywhere in the world.
"We will maintain this free call policy during the emergency. We are also offering free Filipino newspapers from our Newslink group so that they can keep abreast of the situation. All they need to do is give us their email address and we will send them free Tagalog digital newspapers (this works even for non-KVH customers). The free calls will be for company phones as well as for crew calling phones. If the crew currently use a pre-paid KVH calling card, the toll rate will be zero."
