Norwegian shipyard Aas Mekaniske Verksted has awarded compatriot pump supplier PG Flow Solutions a deal to deliver pump systems to another new vessel the yard is building for wellboat company Sølvtrans.

Pump and liquid handling specialist PG Flow Solutions will deliver eight of the company’s large seawater circulation pumps that ensure continuous seawater circulation in the boat’s well.

Additionally, the company will supply all engine room pumps that are required for the main engine and support engines, plus generic pump requirements for operating the wellboat. The equipment will be delivered to Aas Mekaniske Verksted’s yard at Vestnes in Norway. PG Flow Solutions has not disclosed contract values.

The wellboat is newbuild number 204 from Aas Mekaniske Verksted and will have storage capacity of 2,500 cubic metres, equivalent to 375 tonnes of live fish. The newbuild vessel will be 69.69 metres long and 17.80 metres wide. Depth moulded is 5.90 metres. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for October 2020.

PG Flow Solutions has earlier been awarded contracts to deliver similar pump systems to newbuildings number 200 and 201, which Aas Mekaniske Verksted is building for Sølvtrans.

“We interpret the fact that Aas Mek returns to us with new orders as a sign that they are satisfied with our ability to deliver. The relationship between Sølvtrans and Aas Mek, which is now building the 32nd vessel for the former, is obviously rock solid. We are humble and a little proud that our pump systems will be utilised on several Sølvtrans vessels in the future,” says Øyvind Berg, vice president of sales and marketing at PG Flow Solutions.

PG Flow Solutions’ seawater circulation pumps are highly effective and develop to ensure best possible animal welfare, which in turn translates to financial gain for the end-customer. The vessel crew can easily maintain the pumps themselves, without support from an external service technician.

PG Flow Solutions provides proprietary solutions, systems and products for companies within the energy, maritime, aquaculture and land-based process industries. The heritage of the business is pumps and pumping systems. The company’s headquarters and manufacturing facility is located in Sande, Vestfold, Norway.
