Imtech Marine Nav/Com Partner for Groen OSV
The first newbuild ship in a series of three offshore support vessels (OSVS) for shipowner Groen (Scheveningen), 7-Oceans, was delivered at Damen Maaskant Shipyards in Stellendam, the Netherlands at the end of July. Imtech Marine Netherlands provided all navigation and communication equipment, under the reintroduced Radio Holland brand.
Imtech Marine Netherlands has already taken care of the maintenance of the navigation and communication equipment of the fleet of shipowner Groen for many years via a shore-based maintenance contract. Groen specializes in security, support and service activities mainly for the offshore oil and gas industry. The company operates worldwide and now brings three new offshore support vessels into service. Next to the 7-Oceans it concerns the 7-Waves and the 7-Stars, which will both be delivered this year.
“Good navigation and communication equipment is essential for these support and survey ships,” said Imtech Marine’s sales manager Wim Telman. “Especially because these ships also sail in the A4 area, and therefore they must be ready to be operational worldwide at all times. We work with renowned brands such as Furuno and Sailor and have the expertise, because of our many years of experience in the maritime industry, to tune the systems exactly to the operational requirements. Next to the navigation package (e.g. ECDIS and Radar) we take care of the infrastructure on board with internal communication facilities and VSAT with an optimal up and download speed.”
Telman continued, “The Nav/Com equipment is largely connected via an IP-network, and remotely monitored via our Remote Service Centers (GTAC-Global Technical Assistance Centers). The big advantage is that we can provide service remotely and preventively, which is very cost efficient. Next to that we can spot possible problems at an early stage and also make sure that the necessary spare parts are ready and waiting in the next port of destination. Imtech Marine now has about 100 service stations along the most important shipping routes. Furthermore, the ship owner can also monitor the systems remotely. This way, our customer is always ahead of the situation and ready to act if necessary.”
At the exhibition SMM Hamburg, Imtech Marine reintroduces the name Radio Holland as solution brand for Service and Nav/Com solutions. Telman said, “We learned that Radio Holland still is a trusted, strong name in the shipping industry, valued by our relations. That’s why we decided to bring the name back for Service and Nav/Com. Our trading name will remain Imtech Marine, but the trusted Radio Holland name is back and we are happy with that.”
