OSVDPA Announces 2019 Membership Enrollment
Announcement also includes new membership policies and enrollment procedures.
The Offshore Service Vessel Dynamic Positioning Authority (OSVDPA) is now accepting Individual and Corporate Membership Applications for the 2019 calendar year.
Membership provides individuals and companies involved in the dynamic positioning industry the ability to advise the OSVDPA on the content and requirements of the OSVDPA DPO Certification Scheme. Specifically, members elect two representatives to the OSVDPA Technical Advisory Council (TAC). The TAC is charged with writing and reviewing the OSVDPA’s policies and procedures, assessment content, and other scheme requirements.
Additionally, OSVDPA members receive news, updates, and materials from the OSVDPA before they are released to the broader public. Members also have an opportunity to speak with the OSVDPA Board of Directors during the OSVDPA’s annual meeting each year.
In announcing the enrollment period, OSVDPA Executive Director, Aaron Smith, said, “the input and feedback we continue to receive from our member has proven to be invaluable. In particular, we’re proud of the fact that we are willing to go to bat for our members in all aspects of our scheme, be it training, industry standards and guidelines, or communication with other certification schemes and entities.”
In addition to announcing the opening of the annual membership enrollment, the OSVDPA also announced that it had revamped its membership policies and enrollment procedures. In announcing the decision Smith said, “when we crafted our membership requirements in 2015, we wanted to ensure that the Membership Representatives to the TAC would be qualified to sit on this panel, as a result we created a high bar of entry for membership. Since that time, the OSVDPA has found that the OSVDPA members are extremely adept at self-selecting, as a result the Membership Representatives to the TAC have been of exemplary quality.”
Under the new requirements, an individual has to be involved in DP in some way, either as a DPO, DP instructor, or similar position. Similarly, corporate members must be vessel operators, training providers, or other related entity involved in dynamic positioning. Membership fees, as listed in OSVDPA FS-1-CV, the OSVDPA Fee Schedule (Current Version), will remain $65.00 USD for Individual Members and $500.00 USD for Corporate Members.
