Canyon Offshore has announced the appointment of Doug Stroud to the position of vice president sales and marketing. In this newly created position, Stroud will be responsible for overseeing Canyon’s international marketing program, developing new markets and identifying new business opportunities for the company.
Doug Stroud has an impressive track record marketing remotely operated vehicles and ROV services on an international basis, and has held senior positions with both ROV manufacturers and service providers. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Marine Technology Society and has served on a number of professional committees.
In his new position with Canyon, Stroud will develop and implement marketing strategies designed to increase awareness of Canyon’s deepwater capabilities, expand Canyon’s current market share of the remotely operated vehicle market, and promote Canyon’s extensive cable trenching and burial services, both domestically and internationally.
Canyon Offshore has also appointed Scott Sparks as general manager, cable protection Services. Sparks will be based out of Canyon Offshore’s Aberdeen, Scotland facility and will be responsible for overseeing the company’s rapidly expanding submarine cable trenching operations on an international basis.
Sparks, who has a mechanical engineering background, has extensive ROV operational experience. After beginning his career working offshore, he has held positions in project management and in ROV operations management. He was most recently involved in the design and build of several cable trenching systems, including Canyon Offshore’s T200, a highly flexible, lightweight cable maintenance ROV system and the T500. The T500, owned and operated by Canyon Offshore, is one of the most powerful and capable trenching systems available in the marketplace. It recently established a new record for burying cable to a depth of 3 meters in the China Sea.
