OC Selects Siemens Blue Drive PLUSC Propulsion Solution

Siemens Blue Drive PLUSC Low Voltage Propulsion Solution providing reliability, Safety, increased fuel efficiency, reduced greenhouse gas emissions (Methane, NOX and SOX) and reduced maintenance costs.


Siemens Industry announces it was awarded a contract to equip Otto Candies (OC) Subsea Support and Construction Vessel (SSCV) for offshore Oil & Gas support, with its unique Blue Drive PLUSC Diesel Electric Propulsion (DEP) Solution.  Candies Shipbuilding located in Houma, LA. will build the vessel. The total order value is more than $6 million.
 
The vessel will be equipped with Siemens Blue Drive PLUSC  Low Voltage  DEP  Solution  which improves reliability due to failsafe features that will increase fuel efficiency, provide ultra-low THD on the vessels main 480V Power Distribution System and overall  safe and  ease of operation for the vessel and crew, reduced maintenance costs and more efficient  operation of the propulsion system..

The Siemens integrated Propulsion Solution  will also include the main generators, vessel automation (IAS400), LV Switchboards, Energy Management System, Siemens Blue Drive PLUSC drives,  Main Propulsion and Tunnel Thruster Motors. Siemens integrated Diesel Electric System increases vessel propulsion efficiency through less fuel consumption, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing the operator with lower maintenance costs; ultimately providing a more productive vessel.


The DP2 SSCV will be built to the MT6020 design from Norway’s Marin Teknikk.  The 107m long vessel will consists of a 22m beam, a 250-ton active heave compensated crane capable of reaching 4,000 meter water depth, accommodations for 110 personnel and a working moonpool. The vessel will also be outfitted with two remotely operated vehicles.
