Remembered as one of the most influential businessmen in Pensacola's modern maritime industry, Mr. Brown was owner of Brown Marine Service. At its peak, his company operated 16 tugboat and fuel-oil barges, which transported nearly three-quarters of all diesel and gasoline products to Pensacola and other Panhandle marine terminals. Mr. Brown was the son of a tugboat captain and grandson of a ship's captain.
