M/V Northwind has been delivered to Bluewater Express in the Hawaiian Islands. The vessel, built by Northwind Marine, takes parties of up to 35 voyagers on swimming and snorkeling adventures off Kauai's "Na Pali Coast."
Captain Rick Marvin and his family have operated the sailing enterprise out of Port Allen, Kauai since 1964. He commissioned the new powerboat from Northwind to be an all-aluminum boat with a "Navy reconnaissance hull." The hull form is required for Hawaii's "lively waters," says Marvin.
Powered by a pair of 300 hp, keel-cooled Cummins 6CTA*3 engines, the vessel is certified for 35 passengers with necessary snorkeling gear. The vessel is also used for whale-watching, in season.
