Multiport Mourns a Loss

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

November 20, 2003

Multiport, the network of independent ship agents, is sad to announce the death of Mr Hylton Clarke, managing director of its Jamaican member, Maritime & Transport Services Ltd. Clarke was a leading member of the Jamaican shipping community, and the longest serving member on the managing committee of the Shipping Association of Jamaica. "He was a man of the greatest integrity, with a great sense of humour and enjoyment of life," said Multiport secretary-general Peter Titchener, in a message sent to all members of the port agency network. "He will be greatly missed by all who knew him." Clarke's son, Mr. Kim Clarke, will take over as managing director of Maritime & Transport Services Ltd, which has been a member of Multiport since 1997. He is currently a director of the company. The funeral was held on November 18. Clarke's family requested donations to St Andrew's Settlement, a basic school and clinic, rather than flowers.
