Multiport has launched its internet-based system, ShipTrak. ShipTrak enables Multiport's
members to offer their principals a centrally-controlled bespoke system for
the management of shipping agents on a regional or global basis. The system
also provides central accounting facilities for the management and funding
of vessel disbursements.
"The success of the system has already been shown through the recent award
of a regional contract by a major oil company covering 1,700 vessel calls in
addition to the management of 8,500 vessel calls already utilising this
resource," says Peter Titchener, secretary-general of Multiport, who
announced the launch at Multiport's 25th anniversary reception held in New
York on March 12, 2003.
Multiport, which has representatives in over 110 countries, believes that
ShipTrak is the only system in the world offering system-to-system data
transfer, releasing key principal personnel to be re-deployed to other
tasks. For example, port times are immediately displayed on the principal's
system. There is no keying in of information other than by the port agent.
"The development of our systems is ongoing through an in-house team of
software developers ensuring a prompt response to individual customer
requirements," adds Titchener.
