Coast Guard Medevacs Sick Mariner

The U.S. Coast Guard medically evacuated a 42-year-old man from a New Bedford, Mass., fishing vessel approximately 75 miles south east of the New York Harbor, Thursday.

Watchstanders at Sector New York received a call at 4:20 p.m., Thursday, from the 100-foot fishing vessel Patience requesting assistance for a crewmember with life-threatening conditions.

A Coast Guard Atlantic City HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew launched and arrived on scene at approximately 5:15 p.m. The man was safely evacuated from the vessel and transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center.

The patient is currently in stable condition and is being evaluated by the Jersey Shore Medical staff, the Coast Guard said.
