Wynn Marine has teamed up with environmentally friendly energy company, Mayflower Energy. Wynn is to supply the window wiping systems for a
newbuild vessel called ‘The Resolution’, which has been designed for the safe installation of offshore wind farms and is currently in production at the Shanghai Guan Shipyard in China.
The state of the art self-elevating vessel has a length of 130 metres, a beam of 38m and a depth of 8m. Its first job on completion next year will
be to install a wind farm off the coast of Scotland, where undoubtedly it will encounter rain, strong winds and high seas – which is where Wynn’s highly regarded window wiping system comes into play.
Wynn is equipping the vessel with 19 Type C wipers from its Ocean Range of wiper systems. This heavy duty internal motor Straight line wiper offers one of the most sophisticated designs of the Straight line wiper system
and can wipe over 80 percent of a window. Combined with a fast wiping speed and the correct stroke and blade lengths, the Type C offers clear visibility from the bridge at all times.
The wiper system will be controlled by Wynn Marine’s revolutionary new control system, the Series 3000. Whereas traditional systems are closed, the Series 3000 can be connected to any number of wipers whilst still offering unique control of each one. The system can also be used for the control of other electronic appliances on the bridge including Anti-Glare Roller-Blinds. Control features include variable speed operation, self parking, intermittent wipe, heating functions, master group control and
wash/air purge functions.
