Scantrolā€™s mTrack AHC Controller, combined with Bosch Rexroth Secondary Controls, is designed to ensure smooth and safe operation for TravOceanā€™s new 15-ton cable laying winch. This winch is used to lay wind turbine power cables on the seabed. ā€œWe need Active Heave Compensation (AHC) to have smooth operation and not to damage the cable during landing. The function increases the weather window and reduces the weather standby, making the process more efficient, with less downtime in challenging conditionsā€¦

BEN Buchele introduced a robust, low-maintenance three-phase asynchronous motor whose stable grey cast iron design is touted to withstand the harshest environmental conditions: salt water, salty air and extreme temperatures from -31 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit (-35 to 50 degrees Celsius). JonRie Marine Winches debuted its new Series 525 Double Drum Bow Winch designed for a 6,770 HP ASD. This winch was designed for Escort operations and Long Line Towing over the stern making it suited for escorting, terminal support, towing and ship assist duties.A new feature on the Series 525 winch are the four independent Hagglunds Drives. The towing drum features a high torque motor with a 100,000 lbs. line pull and an auto abort block to dump the wire in an emergency. The escort drum features a medium line pull of 50,000 lbs.

Hawboldt Industries installed an ABB winch drive with in-built active heave compensation (AHC) software at the heart of a new winch and offshore crane for the research vessel Kilo Moana, giving University of Hawaiā€˜i Marine Center scientists a reliable means of deploying water sampling equipment at depths up to 5,000 meters in even the roughest sea conditions.Kilo Moana is a 60-meter Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) ship owned by the U.S. Navy and operated by the University of Hawaiā€˜i Marine Center, built to conduct a variety of tests at sea.

Vestdavit wins Contract to Supply on new USCG Icebreaker

Vestdavit won a tender with Pascagoula, Miss. shipbuilder Halter Marine to supply marine davits for the U.S. Coast Guardā€™s new Polar Security Cutter (PSC). The 460-foot vessel will support U.S. operations in Arctic and Antarctic waters.Two HNFE-5000 davit systems from Vestdavit will launch and recover the Coast Guardā€™s ā€˜Over the Horizonā€™ rigid-hull inflatable boat, designed to intercept fast and non-compliant vessels, from the PSCā€™s enclosed bay.
