Silverstream Technologies and Shell has confirmed consistent net efficiency savings in excess of 4% in fuel consumed, following the successful long-term operation of Silverstream Technologies’ proprietary air lubrication technology, the Silverstream System, on-board the 40,000 DWT tanker MT Amalienborg. Further analysis of the data gathered through this process predicts that for larger vessels, efficiency savings of up to 8% are possible. Data was taken from the MT Amalienborg under ‘business as usual’ commercial operations encompassing all operating conditions.

The chemical and product tanker Stena Weco Impulse, jointly owned on a 50-50 basis by Stena Bulk and the Danish Weco Group, has been delivered from the Chinese shipyard CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering (CSSC OME) in Guangzhou. The IMOIIMAX tanker Stena Weco Impulse is the sixth in a series of 13 vessels ordered by Stena Bulk. She is now en route to several Indonesian ports where she will load vegetable oils after which she will sail to Barcelona and Rotterdam to discharge her cargo. The naming ceremony will take place in Copenhagen in June 2016.

NORDANA Project and Chartering (NPC) and Rickmers (Japan) Inc. announced jointly that Rickmers (Japan) Inc. was nominated as sole General Agent of NORDANA Project and Chartering in Japan effective from June 15, 2015. NORDANA’s name is taken from its NORwegian and DANish background. The company started business in 1957 and its Asian Head Office is located in Thailand. Nordana is part of the Weco Group which consists of amongst others tankers (StenaWeco), RoRos, a bulk division and multipurpose tweendeckers. Weco Group operates more than 90 vessels and is a privately owned company.
