Danelec Unveils Remote Operational Performance Test for VDRs

The newly launched Remote Operational Performance Test (OPT) service from Danelec enables ship operators to perform mandatory voyage data recorder (VDR) operational performance tests remotely.The new Danelec Remote OPT is a software-as-a-service solution designed to simplify the workflows required of ship owners under the Operation Requirement Resolution MSC.333(90) and IEC 61996-1 ed.2, which states that all VDRs installed after July 1, 2014, must support an OPT. Danelec VDR Earns DNV Cybersecurity Approval

Denmark-based Danelec reports it has become the first Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) manufacturer to receive new DNV Cyber Security Type Approval for IACS UR E27, for its advanced DM100 VDR platform.The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) has introduced the new IACS Unified Requirements E27 to enhance cyber safety and protect maritime assets from cyber threats, which is now mandatory for all classed ships contracted for construction from July 1, 2024. Furuno's HermAce Earns ClassNK 'Innovation Endorsement'

ClassNK granted its Innovation Endorsement for Products & Solutions to HermAce Remote Monitoring & Troubleshooting Platform developed by Furuno Electric Co. In addition, for ClassNK registered ships flagged with the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), the HermAce voyage data recorder (VDR) digital twin and remote service has been accepted as an alternative to the onboard VDR Annual Performance Test (APT) by the RMI Maritime Administrator. It is now possible to conduct VDR APT remotely for those vessels.HermAce is a solution for remotely monitoring the operational status of FURUNO's navigation equipment and includes the capability to collect VDR data online.
