Maersk to Spin Off Svitzer

Denmark's A.P. Svitzer Buys Back Svitzer Pembroke Tug for Milford Haven Ops

Towage provider Svitzer, part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, has bought a new tug to support terminal operations in Milford Haven, UK. SAAM Reports 40% Jump in Revenue

SAAM, a provider of port, towage and logistics services in 14 countries in the Americas, reported net income of $55.5 million for the nine months ended September 2021, up 40% from the January-September period in 2020. This winch was designed for Escort operations and Long Line Towing over the stern making it suited for escorting, terminal support, towing and ship assist duties.A new feature on the Series 525 winch are the four independent Hagglunds Drives. The towing drum features a high torque motor with a 100,000 lbs. line pull and an auto abort block to dump the wire in an emergency. The escort drum features a medium line pull of 50,000 lbs.

Brazil’s waterways have enormous potential for commercial transport, but are still underused and inefficient in the country’s 12 river basins, according to Brazil’s National Transport Confederation (CNT). Towing Vessel Crewman Medevaced near Sabine Pass

The U.S. Coast Guard said it medevaced an ailing mariner from a towing vessel approximately 28 miles south of Sabine Pass, Texas, Friday.The agency's watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston received a report of a mariner experiencing severe sickness and consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac.A Coast Guard Station Sabine Response Boat-Medium boat crew was launched to the scene and transferred the patient to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Station Sabine.The mariner was reported to be in stable condition.
