TKMS CEO Calls for Defense Industry Consolidation
The chief executive of German warship builder TKMS has called for consolidation within the defence industry in a speech published on Monday ahead of the company's annual general meeting."If defence capabilities are to be established more quickly, standardisation, industrial consolidation and speed are required," CEO Oliver Burkhard said in a transcript of the speech due to be held during the AGM on Feb.
GTT Receives Tank Design Order for Two LNG Carriers
GTT announced that it has received an order from the shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries for the tank design of two new Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGCs) in the first quarter of 2026.GTT will design the cryogenic tanks of the vessels, each with a capacity of 174,000 m³. The tanks will be fitted with GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.Delivery of the vessels is expected between the fourth quarter of 2028 and the first quarter 2029.
Fincantieri Receives Order for Three Cruise Ships from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings
Fincantieri announced the acquisition of an order from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. for the construction of three next-generation cruise ships. The value of this agreement, subject to financing and other typical terms and conditions, is considered very important.The three vessels will be built for Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, each as a sister ship to the most recent newbuilds built by Fincantieri for their respective brands. All units will be constructed at Fincantieri’s Italian shipyards, with deliveries scheduled between 2036 and 2037.

Damen Naval has expanded Colombian involvement by contracting Georg Fischer for the PES project in LATAM. Under this project, a Damen SIGMA frigate will be built by COTECMAR, at their shipyard in Cartagena. Georg Fischer in LATAM has been contracted for the delivery of all plastic piping for the PES project.Besides the supply of plastic piping, Damen Naval’s procurement contract also includes Georg Fischer in LATAM to provide training sessions for COTECMAR staff at their yard in Colombia.
