ABS Grants AIP for HHI's Hi-ReGAS+ Regasification System

Classification society ABS announced it has awarded approval in principle (AIP) for a next-generation, highly efficient concept of a regasification system (Hi-ReGAS+) for floating storage regasification units (FSRUs) and floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals that uses natural circulation.The technology was developed by Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), the intermediate holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and is a follow-on model to the Hi-ReGAS system from HHI Group.

BV Appoves Cryo-Powered Regas System Design

Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) has issued the first approval in principle for a new cold energy ‘Cryo-Powered’ regas system for use in FSRU applications.The approval has been issued to both Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd (DSME). The ‘Cryo-Powered Regas’ system is a cold power generation technology based on the Organic Rankine Cycle - a proven technology used in multiple onshore LNG terminals for decades.This will be the first time the system has been developed for use in a floating terminal.

Qatargas Delivers 1st Cargo to Summit LNG

The world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) has delivered the first Q-Flex cargo of the chilled fuel to the Summit LNG floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) located offshore Bangladesh.The cargo, aboard Qatargas-chartered 'Al Safliya', was loaded at Ras Laffan Port on 27 December 2019 and delivered to the FSRU on 14 January 2020.This is the first commercial open water ship-to-ship transfer involving a Q-Flex vessel delivering to Petrobangla (LNG buyers) at their Summit LNG Terminal (SLNG).SLNG is a project jointly developed by Excelerate Energy and the Bangladesh Oil…

India to Drive LNG Capacity Growth in Asia

India is expected to drive capacity growth in Asia and Oceania’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification industry from planned and announced (new-build) projects between 2019 and 2023, contributing around 35% of the total growth.According to a Reportlinker research report on LNG regasification industry outlook in Asia and Oceania to 2023, India’s new-build regasification capacity is expected to grow from 730.5 billion cubic feet (bcf) in 2019 to 3,209 bcf in 2023.The planned terminals, which have received relevant approvals in India, are expected to contribute 1,784.6 bcf of capacity in 2023 while early-stage announced projects are expected to contribute 1…

India Leads with 18% of Global LNG Regasification Capacity

China Bank Supports Hoegh LNG for New FRSU

Hoegh LNG on its first ever sale and leaseback deal with China Construction Bank Financial Leasing (CCBFL) for its tenth Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU), the Hoegh Galleon, which was delivered yesterday (August 27) and has been taken back on charter by Hoegh LNG for twelve years.Following the completion of the transaction, Hoegh LNG is now fully funded with both equity and debt for its current newbuilding program, which will be completed with the delivery of Hoegh Galleon in August 2019.The Hoegh Galleon has been employed on an 18-months interim LNGC time charter with Cheniere before its intended long-term charter with AIE in Australia…

Klaipeda LNG in Full Capacity

Lithuania's liquefied natural gas (LNG)  terminal Klaipėdos Nafta (KN) said that its terminal capacities are now fully booked for the rest of the Gas Year, following the favorable situation in the international gas markets that has been determining the highest operative efficiency of the LNG terminal since the launch of its activities.The Gas Year is calculated from 1 October of the current year until 30 September of the following year.According to a press note from the operator of the Klaipėda Oil Terminal based in Klaipėda, Lithuania, in April, about 1.48 TWh of gas were regasified in the LNG terminal (28.3% more than the amount of gas regasified in the same period last year)…

Excelerate FSRUs Hit Send-out Milestone

Alexandroupolis FSRU Delivery Delayed by Six Months
