Marine Coatings: APC Reports Maritime Sales Up 40% in '21

Advanced Polymer Coatings (APC), the owner of the MarineLINE cargo tank coating brand, announced its most successful year of trading with maritime sales growing by 40% in 2021.By it's own reckoning the Ohio-headquartered company says it accounts for more than 12% of the global cargo tank coating market, specified on more than 700 ships, with 56 ships coated equating to over 750,000 sq. m. of MarineLINE applied in 2021.Growth is being driven by a rapidly changing shipping landscape…

Ulstein Painting SOV Windea TBN

Norwegian shipbuilder and ship designer Ulstein is currently carrying out the paint work on Bernhard Schulte’s new service operation vessel (SOV), the 'Windea TBN'.The SOV, which was launched on 15 October 2016, for the offshore wind industry was docked into our dock hall on 8 December 2019.The hull of the vessel arrived Ulstein Verft in September 2019 and in the last few months the work has been focused on accommodation, electrical installations, painting of technical areas and outfitting.After the hull had been towed into the dock hall, the exterior paint work started, while the interior work continues.This will be Bernhard Schulte's third vessel which has been designed and constructed by Ulstein.

Coatings Market to Reach $9.34bln by 2025

Global marine coatings market to grow at a steady rate of 3.5% from 2018 to 2025 and reach $9.34 billion by 2025, said Frost & Sullivan.The Asia-Pacific region is expected to dominate the market owing to its large base of shipbuilding and dry-docking facilities, it added.The analysis reveals that the increased development and adoption of more environmentally sustainable and durable antifouling coatings using higher priced chemistries such as silicones and fluorosilicones will propel revenues and boost growth opportunities.“Most of the presently used antifouling coatings for marine applications contain biocides to mitigate the effects of bio-fouling over underwater components.
