Herculaneum Port Site Cleared for Redevelopment as Intermodal Hub

A 300-acre property along the Mississippi River in Herculaneum, Missouri recently received Port District zoning making way for redevelopment as an intermodal transportation hub and industrial park.Located on the shipping lanes of the Mississippi River, the site has been utilized since the 1700s as a port. With its easy access for barge loading and offloading and the site’s proximity to early lead mines in adjacent Washington County, under early French ownership the port was utilized to ship lead cannonballs and shot to Europe to support Napolean’s army.

Philly Shipyard Transfers Prime Plate Facility to Avalotis Industrial Services

Philly Shipyard said it has reached a deal with Avalotis Corporation affiliate  Avalotis Industrial Services (AIS) for the transfer of operations of the shipbuilder’s Prime Plate Facility – a steel blasting and priming facility located outside the shipyard fence-line in the Navy Yard business park. Hornblower Names Peakes EVP and CFO

Saudi PIF, China's COSCO Buy Stake in Red Sea Gateway Terminal

The Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, and COSCO SHIPPING Ports Ltd have completed a deal to buy a combined 21.2% stake in Red Sea Gateway Terminal Ltd from Saudi Industrial Services Co (SISCO).SISCO will receive gross proceeds of 556.5 million riyals ($148 million) for the deal, it said in a statement.The proceeds will support the company’s strategic objectives of enhancing shareholder returns and optimizing its portfolio, it said.LogiPoint also divested its 4% direct equity stake in the terminal and will receive gross proceeds of 105 million riyals, it said.JPMorga

Grandweld Delivers Four Crewboats for HSM

UAE shipbuilder Grandweld Shipyards reports it has delivered four crew boats for Saudi-based offshore oil and gas services provider High Seas Marine Industrial Services Co. SEACOR to Go Private in $1 Billion Deal

Florida-based transportation and logistics firm SEACOR Holdings Inc announced Monday it has entered into a deal with private equity firm American Industrial Partners (AIP) to take the company private in an all-cash transaction valuing it at about $1 billion, including net debt.SEACOR said New York-based AIP will commence a tender offer to buy all its outstanding shares at $41.50 apiece, a premium of about 14% to the company’s closing stock price on Friday, and a premium of approximately 31% over the 90-calendar day volume weighted average price.The agreement was approved by SEACOR’s board of directors and they recommend that SEACOR stockholders tender their shares in the offer.The deal is expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2021.

BAE Systems Awards $129 Mln Supplier Contracts

Bilfinger Sees Huge Potential in Scrubber Market

Carlyle Group Acquires EnerMech from Lime Rock Partners

Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group announces that it has agreed to acquire EnerMech Group Ltd, an international services company providing critical asset support to the energy, infrastructure and industrials sectors, from Lime Rock Partners.The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2018, subject to customary anti-trust and regulatory approvals.Equity for this investment will come from Carlyle International Energy Partners (CIEP), a $2.5 billion fund that invests in the global oil and gas sector outside North America. BY THE NUMBERS: U.S. Coast Guard - AWO Annual Safety Report

Issued at the National Quality Steering Committee (NQSC) meeting on July 31, 2018, the American Waterway Operators (AWO) and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) issued their annual report that benchmarks and further serves as the annual safety report card for the domestic towing industry. This year, it comes at a particularly timely moment, just on the heels of the deadline for the so-called ‘subchapter M’ towboat rules.The NQSC uses three measures to track overall trends in safety and environmental protection. These useful indicators of towing industry trends include (a.) Crew fatalities per 100,000 towing industry workers, (b.) Gallons of oil spilled from tank barges per million gallons transported, and (c.) The number and severity of towing vessel casualties.

Dockside Repair of the USCGC Bluebell

Portland, Oregon-based Vanport Marine, Inc. has been awarded the contract to perform the Dockside Repair of the USCGC Bluebell. The scope of the contract includes upgrades to the Allied buoy and cargo crane, deck preservation, repairs to the weather tight doors, renewal of the sewage shore tie valve, and repair of the remote fuel cutoff valve and deck box. The work will be completed at the vessel’s home pier at 676 N. Basin Ave, Portland, OR. The performance period will begin on June 12, 2018 and end July 18, 2018. The cutter Bluebell is an inland buoy tender built by the Birchfield Boiler Co. in Tacoma, Wash., and was commissioned April 4, 1945.

Ocean Yield Takes Delivery of Two Vessels

Norwegian shipowner Ocean Yield ASA took delivery of newly-built handysize dry bulk vessel "La Fresnais" and "Interlink Amenity". In press release, Ocean Yield said that it took the delivery of the 2018 built handysize dry bulk vessel "La Fresnais" on April 10. Upon delivery the vessel commenced a 12 years' bareboat charter to a company owned and guaranteed by Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group (LDA). LDA is a French family group engaged in maritime transportation and services and founded more than 160 years ago. The group is a major player of dry bulk, marine and port logistics, transportation of heavy and specialized cargoes, in addition to having diversified activities in marine industrial services such as submarine cable laying and marine renewable energies.

Ocean Yield Acquires Two Handysize Dry Bulkers

Norwegian shipowner  Ocean Yield announced that 100% owned subsidiaries of the Company has agreed to acquire two 2018 built handysize dry bulk vessels with 12-year bareboat charters to companies owned and guaranteed by Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group (LDA). The net cash purchase price is USD 18 million per vessel after a seller's credit. Both vessels are expected to be delivered to the Company during March 2018. LDA has options to acquire the vessels during the charter period, with the first purchase option exercisable after five years in addition to an obligation to repurchase the vessels at the end of year 12. LDA is a French family group engaged in maritime transportation and services and founded more than 160 years ago.

Southeast Asia’s largest concrete floating dry dock has been launched by Singapore’s marine engineering company, GL Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd (GL E&C). Partners Ink MOU for Indonesia Maritime Logistics

LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS Group (LDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with palm oil plantation company Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) to develop maritime logistics business opportunities in Indonesia. The MOU signed between GAR and LDA focuses on developing logistics in Indonesia for the next five years with planned acquisitions and investments amounting to around $100 million. Two new coatings, Hempadur Quattro XO 17820 and 17870, are being introduced to increase the service life and reduce on-station maintenance requirements of offshore assets by leading worldwide coatings supplier Hempel. The new high-performance pure epoxy uni-primers presented today (9 January), combine excellent corrosion protection with construction flexibility. Hempadur Quattro XO 17820 / 17870 are part of a series of two-component epoxy primer coatings which provide advanced crack resistance using Hempel’s patented fibre technology. They can be applied in immersed and non-immersed areas of any offshore asset, from offshore platforms and drilling rigs through to support vessels.
