Zeaborn Takes Over E.R. Schiffahrt
Hamburg entrepreneur Erck Rickmers has sold his ship management and ship brokerage activities. Effective January 1, 2018, Bremen-based Zeaborn Group acquired all shares in E.R. Schiffahrt GmbH & Cie. KG and shipbroker Harper Petersen & Co. With the takeover, Zeaborn’s shipping fleet under commercial and technical management has been expanded by 61 container vessels and 20 bulk carriers to more than 165 vessels. All staff, approximately 200 employees ashore and 2,800 at sea, will transfer to the Zeaborn Group. Nils Aden, currently chief executive officer of E.R.
Vard to Design, Build PSV for E.R. Offshore
Vard Holdings Limited announced that it has secured a contract for the design and construction of one Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) for E.R. Offshore. The vessel is a multifunctional PSV of VARD 1 08 design with a total length of 81 meters, beam of 18 meters and a cargo deck area of 830 m2. The vessel will be prepared for standby, rescue, firefighting and oil recovery operations. Delivery is scheduled from Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam in 2Q 2016. E.R. Offshore has also taken over the contract for a sister vessel from Carlotta Offshore via a novation agreement.
Rickmers Donate $1.4m to World Future Council
As part of their "175 Years of Rickmers in Shipping" anniversary, Hamburg shipowners and businessmen Bertram and Erck Rickmers have donated $1.4m to the World Future Council (WFC). “On the occasion of the family’s 175th anniversary we would like to pay tribute to the past and at the same to make a contribution to the future," the brothers explained. "Consistent support of sustainable thinking and acting for the benefit of future generations is only possible at a global level. This is why we want to support the international work of the Hamburg-based World Future Council," the Rickmers brothers added, detailing their reason for supporting the WFC. The cheque was presented to WFC founder and board chairman Jakob von Uexküll. Uexküll thanked them sincerely for their support.
Rickmers Celebrates 175 Years
Their family has been involved in shipping for 175 years. They are the fifth generation and today run two independent groups of companies: Bertram and Erck Rickmers, entrepreneurs and ship owners from , will be celebrating the 175th anniversary of the Rickmers family in shipping today, . Nordcapital Orders 8 Container Vessels
K.S. Choi, President of Hyundai Heavy Industries and Erck Rickmers, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Nordcapital Group, in Ulsan, South Korea. Nordcapital Group and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) have signed contracts for the construction of eight container vessels with a capacity of 13,100 teu. The ships, which are the biggest container vessels ever built by HHI, will be delivered between April 2010 and March 2011 and are still available to the charter market. They represent an order volume of $ 1.4b , the largest single order HHI ever received for commercial ships. The design features latest technological and ecological requirements including environmental passport, an economic main engine fitted for low sulphur fuels, TBT free paint coatings and inboard fuel tanks.
