Eni president Claudio Descalzi has met Angola's president Joao Goncalves Lourenco in Luanda to discuss the Italian energy giant's operations in the country.During the meeting with President João Lourenço, Claudio Descalzi said that they discussed the participation of the Italian multinational in the studies and exploration of crude oil and in other sector-related projects.ENI plans to spend billions of dollars in exploration and development of new offshore areas next year, he has informed.In the sidelines of the meeting, Eni and Sonangol signed an amendment of Block 15/06 Production Sharing Contract which defines the new perimeter of the block, now covering an additional area of 400 km2 on the west side.

Maersk Drilling signed on semi-submersible rig Mærsk Deliverer with Eni for exploration well offshore Timor-Leste.Maersk Drilling and Eni JDPA 11-106 B.V. (Eni) as operator of the JPDA 11-106 Joint Venture have signed a one-well contract for the semi-submersible rig Mærsk Deliverer for exploration drilling in the Timor Sea.The estimated duration of the firm contract is two months, expected to commence in March 2019. The contract contains an option for an additional well with an expected duration of an additional two months.The Mærsk Deliverer is currently warm-stacked in Labuan, Malaysia, after completing a well programme in March 2018.

Exxon Mobil Corporation announced today that its subsidiary, Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited (Esso Angola), has started oil production ahead of schedule at the Kizomba Satellites Phase 2 project offshore Angola. Kizomba Satellites Phase 2 is a Block 15 subsea infrastructure development of the Kakocha, Bavuca and Mondo South fields. Mondo South is the first field to begin production, and the other two satellite fields are expected to start up in the coming months. The project develops approximately 190 million barrels of oil with peak production currently estimated at 70,000 barrels of oil per day. The project is expected to increase total daily Block 15 production to 350,000 barrels. Esso Angola is operator of the project and Block 15.

The Maersk Group has reaffirmed its commitment to support the expansion of Ghana’s Port of Tema to the tune of US$1.5 billion. The Group Chief Executive Officer of the multinational transport and energy giant Maersk Group, Nils Smedegaard Andersen, has re-assured of the company’s readiness to inject US$1.5billion to boost the ongoing expansion works at the Tema Port. The Maersk Group’s subsidiary, APM Terminals, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Ghana in November last year to expand the Tema Port. Andersen said funding arrangements for the project have been secured pending the signing of a concession agreement between Maersk’s key partner Meridian Ports Services (MPS) and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

Maersk Group is committed to support the expansion of the Port of Tema to the tune of US $1.5 billion, says Nils Smedegaard Andersen, Chief Executive Officer of Maersk Group. Maersk will also contribute its quota in the US$6 billion oil exploration work to be undertaken by Italian firm Eni Exploration in Ghana. The board of Italian oil and gas major ENI has appointed Claudio Descalzi to replace Paolo Scaroni as chief executive, the company said in a statement late on Friday. Veteran ENI executive Descalzi was proposed as CEO of the state-controlled group by the Italian government in April. For the time being Descalzi will also remain head of ENI's Exploration & Production Division, the company said. (Reporting by Valentina Za; Editing by Toby Chopra)
