Green Yard Kleven and the Brazilian shipowner Oceanica have signed a contract to convert the vessel Oceanicasub XVII from an Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel to a ship capable of performing Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) operations.Oceanicasub XVII will be equipped with mezzanine decks for ROV equipment, extended crew capacity, and areas for charterers. At the same time, the ship will undergo a general upgrade and class re-approval.The UT712L anchor handler vessel was originally delivered from Green Yard Kleven as B313 back in 2007 under the name Rem Balder.

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore has secured contracts with undisclosed clients for three of its offshore support vessels.The vessels that have been hired are Normand Jarstein, Normand Australis, and Normand Scorpion.Normand Jarstein construction support vessel (CSV) has been awarded a 135 days firm plus option contract for providing subsea support and services, partnering with Omega Subsea. The vessel will operate in West Africa, with the start in March 2025.Normand Australis CSV has been awarded a 200 days firm plus 90 days option contract for a renewable energy project.

Crewmember Goes Missing From Canadian Coast Guard Vessel

The Canadian Coast Guard has called off a search for a crewmember believed to have gone overboard from one of its icebreaker vessels off Newfoundland's northeast coast. The CCGS Vincent Massey crewmember, who was reportedly last seen aboard the ship on Sunday evening, was reported missing at 8:15 a.m. on Monday when the vessel arrived in St. John's.An "extensive" search involving Canadian Coast Guard vessels, aircraft and vessels from other federal sources was launched but proved unsuccessful.

GOM Floating Production Vessel gets Award-Winning Mooring Tech

Bardex completed its phase of floating production system (FPS) for the Shenandoah project: delivering its Off Vessel Tensioning (OVT) BarLatch mooring system. When installed, the FPS will be located in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico at more than 1800 m water depth. This is the second FPS project in which Bardex partnered with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries to supply its patented OVT BarLatch system. The first was the King’s Quay FPS, also moored in the Gulf of Mexico, which marked the inaugural implementation of Bardex’s OVT method.

Becker Marine Systems introduced two new products at SMM which are designed to optimise vessel hydrodynamic performance: the Becker Daggerboard and the Becker Steering Gear.The Becker Daggerboard is an anti-leeway fin designed for ships equipped with modern wind- assisted propulsion systems (WAPS). Sea1 to Manage Viking Supply Ships' AHTS Fleet

Sweden-based Viking Supply Ships on Tuesday announced plans to outsource the management of its six anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels to Sea1 Offshore, based in Norway.The management agreements are scheduled to be completed in October 2024, subject to final documentation and required approvals, the company said.The six AHTS vessels include Magne Viking, Odin Viking, Loke Viking, Njord Viking, Brage Viking and Andreas Viking, all with ice class notations and built from 2011 through 2013.
