Canada's New Oil Spill Response Boats Powered by Scania

Engine manufacturer Scania said it has been selected by the Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) to power four 52-foot oil spill response landing crafts.Currently in production by family-owned Burlington, Wash welded aluminum boat manufacturer the William E. Munson Company, the vessels are powered by twin keel-cooled 750 HP Scania DI13-liter 088M engines with Twin Disc 5095 marine gearboxes, supplied by distributor Cascade Engine Center. Propulsion is provided by Hamilton 403 waterjets. This combination offers a top speed of 35 knots at full power.

MARAD Awards Nearly $20 Mln for Small Shipyards

Two dozen small shipyards in the U.S. have received a combined $19.6 million through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) Small Shipyard Grant Program to help fund upgrades and expansions that often lead to more competitive operations, quality ship construction and improved employee skill.“This $19.6 million federal government investment in the nation’s small shipyards will help maintain the U. MetalCraft Delivers New Fireboat to Kuwait

MetalCraft Marine (MCM), an aluminum boat manufacturer located in Kingston, Ontario, has delivered their 18th NFPA Type III Fireboat in 14 years.In 2015 the Kuwait Fire Services Directorate (KFSD) ordered their first FireStorm 50’, along with a 50’ STLC landing craft support craft. The KFSD liked the FireStorm 50’ so much, they bought Two more in 2016. The KFSD have now received their Fourth FS50.The new FS-50 has the very latest in technology available for fire fighting and search and rescue. This is the first FireStorm powered by Volvo D13 1000 HP twin diesels. It is propelled by the first Marine Jet Power 310X mixed flow waterjets installed in North America. The boat’s electronics are the latest offerings by Raymarine, the Axiom PRO Series.

Moose Boats Delivers 2 Patrol Boats

Aluminum boat manufacturer Moose Boats announced the delivery of two patrol boats. The builder delivered a M2-38’ Patrol Catamaran to the United States Park Police in Fort Tilden, New York, as well as a M2-38’ Wide Cabin Patrol Catamaran to the New Jersey State Police in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. The U.S. Park Police’ all aluminum catamaran is powered by twin 425hp Cummins turbo diesel engines with TwinDisc transmissions coupled to Hamilton HJ292 water-jets. Maneuvering is achieved by dual complete Hamilton BlueArrow control stations at both the central cabin helm station and cockpit.

Metal Shark to Construct 350, Yes 350, Hi-speed Navy Boats

Louisiana-based aluminum boat manufacturer Metal Shark Aluminum Boats LLC has been awarded a contract to produce up to 350 specialized vessels for the United States Navy. The fixed-price contract is for the construction of the Navy’s High Speed Maneuverable Surface Target (HSMST) vessels. Based on Metal Shark’s high performance 26-foot Relentless center console model, the twin engine, welded aluminum HSMSTs will be utilized by the Navy primarily for advanced weapons system testing and fleet training exercises.

Moose Boats Delivers M3-34 Dive/Patrol Boat to LAPD

Moose Boats, an aluminum boat manufacturer, delivered a M3-34 Mono-hull to the Los Angeles Police Department in San Pedro, CA in February 2012. The M3 all aluminum mono-hull is a new hull platform for Moose Boats and is powered by twin 300hp Yamaha outboard engines. The boat features a fully enclosed cabin with two shock-mitigating seats, bench seating for four additional personnel and a standing height head enclosure. The cockpit and foredeck are outfitted with weapons foundations and ammunition storage compartments.

Moose Boats delivers M1-44 Patrol Boat to NJ State Police. Moose Boats, an aluminum boat manufacturer, recently delivered a M1-44’ Catamaran to the New Jersey State Police in Point Pleasant, NJ. The M1-44’ is an all aluminum catamaran powered by twin 600hp Cummins diesel engines coupled to twin Hamilton 322 water-jets with Hamilton Blue Arrow Controls and a hydraulically driven fire fighting system with a remote control bow monitor rated for 750 GPM pumping. The M1-44 will serve as a regional marine fire-fighting asset throughout Southern NJ.

SeaArk Marine: Temporarily Discontinues Accepting New Orders

Military and industrial aluminum boat manufacturer SeaArk Marine, Inc. of Monticello, Arkansas said it will temporarily suspend acceptance of new boat orders until further notice. Due to very sporadic and extremely low (new construction) sales figures for nearly 24 straight months, the company announced that it would begin an overhead reduction plan in an attempt to “ride out” the effects of the current market until substantial improvement in the government & industrial marine sector appeared more apparent. SeaArk Marine, Inc. is not completely shutting down its operations.

Dept. of Interior, Moose Boats Contract

Moose Boats, an aluminum boat manufacturer, has been awarded a contract from US Department of the Interior – US Park Police, for a M1-44 Patrol Boat. This is a 44-ft all aluminum catamaran powered by twin 600hp Cummins diesel engines coupled with twin Hamilton 322 water-jets. This vessel is designed to attain a top speed of 40 knots, cruise at approximately 30 knots and will be used for security patrol of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The Marine Patrol Unit acquired a 32-ft aluminum Cat from Moose Boats in the spring of 2003 and it has been in service in Jamaica Bay ever since.

Moose Boats Delivers M1-44

This vessel is the first of its kind and was designed to meet mission-specific needs for New York State’s Division of Military Naval Affairs (DMNA) headquartered in Latham, NY. The vessel is presently berthed at the United States Coast Guard Sector 1 on Staten Island, NY. DMNA took possession of the vessel, which is operated by the New York Naval Militia’s Emergency Boat Service, in December 2007. The M1-44 is an off-shore 44 ft.

ConAgra Inc., the second largest U.S. food manufacturer, has agreed to sell American Commercial Lines LLC (ACL) its large U.S. inland barge fleet and operations. Financial terms of the deal, which ConAgra said was part of ongoing series of strategic divestments, were not announced. ACL will acquire 930 owned and chartered barges, nine chartered towboats and one dry dock, the companies said in a joint statement. The deal includes Peavey Barge Lines, Brown Water Towing Inc. and Superior Barge Lines, Inc. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval but is expected to be completed in the next 30 days, the companies said.
